News round up from Lemington - Sept 2007

September 27, 2007 12:00 AM

Local residents are supporting a council measure scheme to install speed humps on Mapperley Drive, Councillor Joanne Park reports.

The Lib Dem-run city council carried out a survey of residents on Mapperley Drive and local people backed the plan.

Lemington councillors will now meet to discuss the funding of the scheme.

Residents in Malvern Court contacted Lawrence Hunter about local environmental work. Several trees have now been trimmed, a footpath has been cleared and manhole covers have been repaired.

On Hartside Lawrence got the council to cut back some overgrown trees after being contacted by one elderly resident. Unsightly graffiti at the community centre on Valley View has also been removed.

A litter bin and sign board have been installed at the bus terminus on Combe Drive.

Later this year the council will resurface the pavements on Lockerbie Gardens, Bridgewater Close, Aldeburgh Avenue, Tedham Road and Medburn Road.
