New facilities for Newcastle's children are welcome, says Ron Beadle

Newcastle's Lib Dem leaders have welcomed the city's success in getting six new Sure Start centres by the end of 2008.

The Centres at Dinnington, Denton, Newburn, Ouseburn, South Heaton and Westerhope will provide a wide range of support for children and parents.

Ron Beadle, Lib Dem spokesman said:

"These centres help with early year's education, safe play and health and employment advice. We aim to have one in every part of the city by 2010 and today's news marks real progress towards that. The people who have been involved deserve every congratulation."
