MORE NEWS FROM ACROSS FAWDON WARD

July 27, 2008 5:21 PM

:: HOUSING SCHEME GOING AHEAD

Despite the credit crunch and the difficulties of the housing market, we're confident that the schemes on the former Hillsview School site and the former Star Centre site will go ahead.

Meanwhile, Your Homes Newcastle will be starting soon on the construction of the bungalows on the Apsley Crescent/Hillsview Avenue site.

:: YELLOW LINES EXTENDED

The double yellow lines at the Jubilee Road end of Farnon Road are being extended to give more room for traffic to negotiate the junction.

:: COXLODGE TENANTS

A new attempt is to be made to get a representative Residents and Tenants Association together for Coxlodge that looks after the interests of the whole of Coxlodge people.

:: YHN PROGRAMME CONTINUES

The Your Homes Newcastle modernisation programme across Fawdon Ward is continuing.

Residents of Conewood House have been advised of the external painting programme, which will take place in July and August.

:: WARD COMMITTEE

The Fawdon Ward Committee met in North Kenton in May and in Fawdon in July.

Grants agreed include summer holiday play & arts projects for young people in Fawdon and North Kenton, and a volunteering scheme for Kenton School pupils.

:: PLANS FOR NORTH KENTON

A newsletter with the latest about regeneration plans for "North Central" - including North Kenton - is being delivered to residents.

The key issues in North Kenton are those already planned or under way - redevelopment of the former Hillsview School site, improvements to Kenton Park, investment in improving existing Your Homes Newcastle properties, and new bungalows on the Hillsview Avenue/Apsley Crescent space.

Another priority flagged up by residents will be bringing about improvements to the shopping centre.
