NEW SCHOOL PLANS AGREED

Planning permission has been granted for the building of the relocated Knoplaw Primary School.

Work on the new school, which will be located on the site of the former Chapel House Middle School, should start soon.

It is expected the new school will be open in September next year.

Councillor Sharon Middleton said: "The Denton Ward councillors persuaded the council to close the pedestrian footpath on Chadderton Drive and to pay more attention to traffic and parking issues.

"It has also been agreed that the surplus land on the site will be retained for educational use.

"This is great news for our community and we will keep you informed of developments."
