ROADS TO RECOVERY

May 27, 2009 10:27 PM

DOREEN, KAREN, and GREG have met with council highways officers to draw up this year's hit list for road and pavement resurfacing, after the city council agreed Lib Dem plans for £7m extra investment.

This comes on top of previously increased annual spending on highways since the Lib Dem takeover in 2004, after years of Labour cuts to local road resurfacing, and helps us to make further inroads into the backlog of maintenance left by Labour.

As always, we're conscious that we can't do every street in one go and have to prioritise the streets we think are in the worst condition. However, we'll do our best to patch up any potholes and uneven pavements if you report them to us.

2009-2010 Provisional North Heaton Programme

Road resurfacing:

Amberley Gardens, Cartington Terrace, Jesmond Park East, Kirkleatham Gardens, St Albans Crescent

Pavement replacement:

Charminster Gardens, Cochrane Park Avenue, Tosson Terrace, Trewhitt Road, Turbinia Gardens, Warton Terrace
