North Heaton traffic update

Lib Dem councillor for North Heaton Greg Stone has been tackling local traffic issues following requests from local residents.

These include:

Jesmond Park West area: Greg has arranged for new 20mph signs in the vicinity of the rear of Heaton Manor school, following requests from school governors. Consultation is also being carried out on extending the resident parking zone southwards from its current limit to include the "middle" sections of Jesmond Park West, Dene Close, and Park Head Road down to Melbury Road, following increased hospital parking and requests from residents.

Benton Road area: Greg is trying to sort out a persistent problem near the junction with Horsley Road which has led to parked cars on the northbound carriageway being clipped by vehicles who do not change lanes in time.

Bosworth Gardens area: Greg would like to reassure residents of this area that there are no current plans to reopen the closed junction with Benfield Road. Rumours in the area that this is to be reopened to allow the improved #1 bus service to use this route are untrue - Greg has confirmed this with both the council and with Nexus.

Farnley Road: Greg has asked for a one way system to be put in place here following ongoing Ravenswood School run parking problems
