LOCAL GROUPS AWARDED CASH GRANTS

The Lemington Ward Committee has awarded grants of more than £5,000 to community groups.

The Newburn & District Sea Cadets were given a grant of £1,926 towards the cost of buying outdoor equipment for their adventure training programme.

The Snowy Owls group, which offers recreational and educational activities for women over 50 living in the West End, has been awarded £2,700 towards the cost of running activities at the Westgate Centre for Sport.

The Lemington Community Association Mosaic Group was awarded £500 to help buy more materials to make their mosaics. Many are on display locally.
