Booze ban for Kingston Park

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 3rd Aug 2007

The Castle Lib Dem team have asked the police to apply for a booze ban for Kingston Park.

Councillors Ian Graham, Ian Laverick and Anita Lower wrote to the police asking for the tough ban, which would make it an offence to drink on local streets.

The police agreed that there was a problem with underage children drinking on the streets and applied for the ban.

The ban has now been agreed by the council and will come force this month.

Anyone caught drinking on the streets of Kingston Park faces having their alcohol confiscated by the police and could be prosecuted.
