PAVILLION TO BE REPLACED

12.27.00pm GMT Fri 27th Feb 2009

The Brunswick Pavilion is to be replaced with a new building.

The Liberal Democrat-run city council is contributing £300,000 towards the costs of

replacing the popular community building.

The new Pavilion will become a Sure Start Children's Centre - a local hub for children under five and their families.

Sure Start, a Government scheme, is being extended to the Northern Village.

Councillor Anita Lower says: "It is fantastic news that the Pavilion is to be replaced with a new building for the community.

"The plan is to use the initial £300,000 to start the project with further funding being sought to finish off the scheme.

"Although the building will primarily be a Children's Centre, the whole of the community will be able to use the facilities."
