Working and winning for Newcastle

Sir Bobby Robson

12.00.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 31st Jul 2009

Greg has expressed sadness at the death today of Sir Bobby Robson.

Greg said "I met Sir Bobby a few times at civic functions and I remember talking to him at a Newcastle Gateshead New Years Eve party at the Baltic where he set off the midnight fireworks. I even once sat alongside him at a Rod Stewart concert at St James Park. He was universally respected in football and he was especially loved here in his native North East. He will leave an immense off the field legacy through his foundation and through the centre for cancer treatment he has helped to create at the Freeman Hospital. Above all, he was a warm-hearted and honourable man and he will be very sadly missed".
