Nick Clegg to visit Newcastle Futures

7.50.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 4th Sep 2009

Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg is visiting Newcastle next week and will be visiting a number of employment related projects in the city, including attending a Newcastle Futures event with its chair, Greg Stone.

Greg said "Despite the difficult economic climate there are a number of good news stories in the city including increased apprenticeship recruitment and innovative working between the council, employers, Job Centre Plus, and voluntary sector agencies to promote employability. I am delighted Nick is visiting Newcastle to see the work Newcastle Futures is doing to help people into work at a time when unemployment is a fast-growing political concern."

The Lib Dem leader will also hold a "town hall meeting" open to the public at Gosforth Civic Hall in support of the Lib Dem general and local election campaign in Newcastle.
