Working and winning for Newcastle

Time for a new style of politics; time for change

3.40.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 23rd Oct 2009

Greg has been invited by the Power 2010 campaign to submit ideas for political reform ahead of the next General Election, following his article calling for a new Great Reform Act in the Guardian recently. The campaign, supported by the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust, seeks to ensure that the next Parliament is far more reforming than the current discredited system which has been disgraced by the expenses system.

Greg said "I agree with Power 2010's focus on ensuring that the next Parliament is a reforming one, and support its objective of giving everyone in this country the chance to have a say in how our democracy works for us. I shall be urging the adoption of fair voting and a written constitution, together with a transparent system of funding and expenses, and a commitment to re-establishing the primacy of parliament over the executive as the foundation of the political system".
