RESIDENTS DEMAND LOCAL BUS IMPROVEMENTS

5.18.00pm GMT Sat 2nd Jan 2010

Lots of people have contacted the Liberal Democrats to tell us they agree that improving bus links in the Outer West is vital.

Residents have told us how hard it is to get to the Denton Park Shopping Centre from different parts of the area.

Those hardest hit are the people without cars, and those with mobility problems.

Local councillors have held several meetings to draw up some plans for improvements in the bus services in the Outer West.

Councillor Sharon Middleton said: "It's not just those living in Denton and Westerhope who have difficulty getting to the shopping centre.

"People in Lemington, Throckley and Newburn also have trouble getting there too.

"We need better bus services than what we're getting at the minute."
