1.15.00pm GMT Fri 8th Jan 2010

Pupils at Lemington Riverside Primary School have been praised for recording impressive results in national tests for 11-year-olds.

The school in Lemington Village saw a 30% increase in the number of students achieving Level 4 or better at Key Stage 2 in English and Maths.

Overall the number of 11-year-olds in the city achieving the key government target of Level 4 or above in both English and Maths rose by 1% to 70% - 8% higher than in 2005.

Councillor Liz Langfield, who is also a governor at the school, said: "This is a great result for the school and I'd like to thank all the staff, pupils, fellow governors and parents for their hard work. Across the city results are improving and our schools have come a long way in a short time. We know these results need to be even better."
