RESIDENTS ASK FOR TRAFFIC CALMING

4.16.00pm GMT Sat 9th Jan 2010

Residents in Westerhope Village are asking the council to install traffic calming measures.

Councillor Neil Hamilton presented a petition to the city council on behalf of 102 residents living on Beaumont Terrace.

Councillor Hamilton explained: "The terrace is in fact a back lane to the properties and the measures would deter motorists from using it as a short cut from Stamfordham Road to the district heart of West Denton.

"This traffic flow has increased since the new Morrisons store opened and presents a real danger to pedestrians especially children."
