BEADLE MEETS WITH HEALTH BOSSES

9.23.00pm GMT Sun 3rd Jan 2010

Newcastle campaigner Ron Beadle has met with NHS bosses to discuss the proposal for a new hospital at Cramlington.

Ron Beadle said: "There have been real worries that people in the north of Newcastle would be forced to use Cramlington rather than hospitals in Newcastle.

"This would be quite wrong. So we have met with the Primary Care Trusts and Northumberland NHS Trust and they have assured us that only emergency patients closer to Cramlington and other patients who choose to be treated there would go.

"This is reassuring but we are continuing to talk with senior health officials because we are still being told slightly different things about the plans by different people in the NHS and residents have a right to some certainly about the effect of these plans."
