Newcastle upon Tyne Liberal DemocratsMeasures are being taken to improve road safety on Broadway West.
After eight reported accidents in recent years a council speed survey was commissioned and showed the average speed eastbound was 36mph and westbound 34mph - above the 30mph limit.
Councillor Diane Packham says: "An extra pedestrian refuge is proposed between Kielder Way and Grasmere Place.
"In addition, officers are investigating upgrading the refuge at Westbourne Avenue to a pelican crossing."
