Local resident Mitzi Emery's campaign to be our next councillor is off to a flying start.

She has made issues such as crime and improving services her top priorities.

Mitzi is married with three adult children and manages a local bakers. She is the popular choice to be our new councillor.

She has lived in the area her whole life and is well known by many people.

Mitzi is the only candidate who lives in Fenham Ward - Labour's lives in Gosforth.

Pundits are predicting that it will be a two-horse race between Mitzi and Labour in the by-election on January 29.

The Conservatives are in fourth place here and cannot win.

Mitzi says: "Living locally, I know the issues that local people face. I will be a strong voice for Fenham Ward and am already working with PJ Morrissey and Colin Daglish."
