The new Morrisson's store at West Denton opened it doors to the public for the first time today.

The supermarket was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Newcastle Mike Cookson, Sir Kenneth Morrison and general manager Malcolm Rennie.

The store, which employs 300 people, forms part of the regeneration of the West Denton Shopping Centre.

A health centre opened last year, as has a new Boots chemist and several other shops have also moved in, including a Post Office.
