St Theresa's parents oppose phone mast

October 28, 2009 7:00 PM

Newcastle East Lib Dem parliamentary spokesman Greg Stone is supporting opponents of a planned phone mast close to St Theresa's primary school on Heaton Road. Telefonica are seeking permission for a new mast after being rebuffed in an attempt to erect a mast on the Heaton Baptist Church building.

Greg said "Parents at St Theresa's have approached me expressing concern and I am taking the matter up with the council's planning department. I am not aware that an application has been submitted yet but will investigate further. Following the significant local opposition to the Baptist Church proposal I am concerned that this site may also be unsuitable."
