Lib Dem councillor for North Heaton Greg Stone has praised Heaton Manor School for its proactive stance on developing better relations with neighbours.
Residents of the Wyncote Court area south of the school approached the head with concerns that pupils were making use of gaps in the perimeter to trespass on the estate, causing damage to walls and fences. These are now being stopped up and anti-vandal paint being applied on the school's side of the boundary.
Greg commented: "As anti-social behaviour goes, this case was fairly minor, but I'm grateful to the school for taking a very helpful approach to this matter and giving local residents reassurance that they value a good relationship with the neighbouring community. I also welcome the school's offer of use of a meeting room for the local residents association."
