Many thanks to the hundreds of residents who have already responded to the Metro Station Access and Bus Routes petitions that were printed in Walkergate Focus 78. Residents agree with the calls to improve the steps and ramps at the Metro Station which can be dangerous, particularly in bad weather. Local people also want the buses to return to their old routes - the No 1 & 2 services going along Appletree Gardens and Shields Road; the No 22 along Fossway.
Walkergate councillor Pauline Allen has already contacted senior managers at Nexus to take up both issues and is waiting for their responses. She has also passed on the requests of residents who would appreciate some buses travelling along Shields Road, between Logan Road and Coutts Road, along with calls for at least one service to use the city centre bus station. Pauline will present both petitions to the Labour-controlled transport committee in the near future - but there is still time to sign up and return your completed forms to the Lib Dem Focus Team.
