The European Economic and Social Committee has shortlisted five candidates for its 2015 Civil Society prize highlightingwhat is being done by thousands of voluntary groups and NGOs across Europe to tackle the 2015 theme "Combating Poverty", EurActive reports. The European Commission has started public consultation on the evaluation and modernisation of the legal framework for the enforcement of intellectual property rights. The Commission is seeking views from all interested parties, in particular rightholders, the judiciary and legal profession, intermediaries, public authorities, consumers and civil society, on whether the legal enforcement framework is still fit for purpose. The European Commission has presented two proposals to ease cross-border e-commerce in the EU: one on digital content (e.g. streaming music) and one on the online sale of goods (e.g. buying clothes online).
