Vote registration protest

May 22, 2017 9:49 AM

Register to vote landscapeLiberal Democrat Wendy Taylor has sent an emergency protest to the Newcastle Chief Executive and Returning Officer about the lack of prominence on the closure of voting registration at midnight tonight (Monday).

If you're not registered to vote, go to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote within the next few hours.

In her letter, Wendy said : "I was surprised to see that there isn't a message on the (Council's) website today telling people it's their last chance to register to vote. Surely the opening page should have that information and details of where to register. As it is, elections and voting is near the bottom of the services list. We want to encourage everyone to register, so should make it as easy as possible."
