Looking into the future… a changed Newcastle
A Liberal Democrat council would
Build relationships with the people we represent. Liberal Democrat councillors have a good reputation for service and action. We would work hard to keep you informed, actively seek out your opinions, and act as problem solvers for the community.
Repair trust in the Council and improve how it is run. We would reform the culture of the Council to make it more focused on serving local priorities and needs and delivering value for money. We would fix the basic services that have been neglected in recent years and we'd give you more say about services in your area.
Build and improve partnership working. The Council isn't able to do everything itself. We will foster partnerships with other councils, other public bodies, voluntary organisations, and the business sector to ensure shared priorities and resources to tackle the city's needs.
Tackle climate change & meet the challenges of a post-pandemic city. The city has been slow in implementing measures to meet the Council's net zero ambitions, so we would significantly up our game. We would tackle health and social problems. We would give support to small businesses and attract new jobs to the city.
