Kami KundiIntroducing the Liberal Democrats candidate Kami Kundi

Kami is an entrepreneur with a wealth of experience in business, skills, local government, working with the voluntary sector and a Retired Magistrate.
Kami was born in Kenya and came to the UK in 1968. He moved to Newcastle from London in 1987. Trained as an accountant he worked for a private accountancy firm in Newcastle then moved to North Tyneside Council working in various positions in Internal Audit, Policy Advice, Sports Development, Economic Regeneration and Business Development and Voluntary sector.
He was a Magistrate for 15 years, a business advisor and mentor for the Princes Trust helping support young people into enterprise and employment. A part time Youth Leader at Mill Lane Youth Club and also Chairman of Tyne & Wear Black Housing Project for 3 years and relocating the office to West Road from the City Centre, to meet the Housing needs of Black and Ethnic minority community in Tyne & Wear. Raised £300,000 lottery funding of for the project.
Kami has served as a board member of the DTI Business Incubation Fund, the Learning and Skills Council and the National Asian Business Association and Advisor to the Home Office on the Recruitment of Probation Service Chairs. Has operated various businesses in Newcastle in retail, restaurants, outside catering, events, properties and helping in the voluntary sector and communities to make a better life for the diverse communities. Kami is currently a Business Advisor in the Public sector to help businesses in the North East Region to grow and in Inclusivity and Diversity.
