A Safer City For All

31 Jan 2011

Good news for all with the release of the latest set of crime figures. Reported crime has continued to fall every year since 2004/5. From a high of 36.232 down to 26,128 crimes in 2009/10. Further good news is that figures for 10/11 show a downward trend - down a further 8.2% from April to December.

Valuable Lessons

More than 200 car owners have received advice from police after their vehicles were seen parked with items left on display. Patrolling police officers and Community Support Officers as well as Neighbourhood Wardens are keeping a look out for vehicles with valuables left on view which could be attractive to thieves. Once a vulnerable vehicle is spotted, the registration number is noted and a letter is forwarded to the registered keeper offering crime prevention advice. The scheme warns motorists of the dangers of leaving items - such as mobile phones, cash and sat navs - on display.
