Local Action Needed to Tackle the Climate Emergency
Our campaign for practical local action to address the Climate Emergency
The Climate Emergency is real. It is a global problem, but many practical steps can be taken locally to make lives better and help the planet.
The Liberal Democrats are calling on Newcastle City Council to take the first steps to make a local contribution to the actions needed to address the Climate Emergency by:
- Taking action to reduce emissons from Council buildings;
- Exploring ways to use more green energy;
- Ensuring we reduce waste that ends up in landfill;
- Planting many more trees across the city to absorb CO2;
- Improve local biodiversity in our green areas.
You can help by joining our campaign to get the city council to take more local action to address the Climate Emergency - which is good for the planet and good for our local communities.
