COUNCILLORS LOOK FOR MATCHBOX FUNDING HELP

27 May 2009

The difficult economic situation has slowed down work on putting right the various problems with the Matchbox building.

It is closed at the minute while essential repairs are carried out. The Denton Park Community Association, which runs the Matchbox, has been looking at ways of re-opening the building as quickly as possible.

Local builders have volunteered to do the work but there have been problems getting all the material they need.

The Matchbox offers activities for several elderly and young peoples' groups.

Councillor Graham Middleton says: "The Denton Ward councillors are trying to find some money that will help get the work going, so that this popular community facility can be brought back into use.

"We will keep you informed of progress."
