FIONA HALL MEP - PUTTING NEWCASTLE FIRST

5 May 2009

Newcastle MEP Fiona Hall has joined local Liberal Democrats in setting out the top priorities for the city ahead of the European elections on June 4.

As with all elections in Newcastle, this year's will be a fight between Labour and the Lib Dems.

Fiona Hall has been working hard for Newcastle over the past five years and her priorities for Newcastle are:

:: More police on our streets

Newcastle's Lib Dem MEP Fiona Hall is backing local campaigner Ron Beadle's campaign for more police on the beat.

Having more police on the beat cuts crime and the fear of crime.

:: Cut taxes to help middle and low earners

Thousands of people across Newcastle are struggling through this recession.

Ron Beadle and Fiona Hall are leading calls for permanent tax cuts for middle and low earners.

Putting money back in the pocket of those who need it most is the best way to help people in Newcastle.

Fiona Hall said: "The dividing lines between the Lib Dems and Labour are clear in Newcastle.

"The Liberal Democrats are standing up for local residents and Labour isn't.

"June 4 gives everyone an opportunity to send Gordon Brown a message, and only by voting Lib Dem can we beat Labour here."
