FORMER THOMAS BEWICK SCHOOL DEMOLISHED

22 Dec 2008

The former Thomas Bewick School has been demolished and Chapel House Middle School is to be bulldozed in the New Year.

A lot of old furniture has been rescued and given to community organisations and charities.

Meanwhile a planning application for the new Knoplaw Primary School is likely to be submitted soon.

Councillor Sharon Middleton says: "Local residents will be able to have their say before a decision is made on the application.

"If it is agreed, building work may start next year and the school may be opened in the summer of 2010."
