HOME DELIVERY SERVICE AXED BY SAINSBURY'S
The Liberal Democrats are backing a residents' campaign to reinstate the Co-Op home delivery service.
The Co-Op store in Throckley used to offer the service to local people but now Sainsbury's has taken over the outlet and axed it.
This has shocked many local people, as the service was popular with residents, especially the elderly and disabled.
Now councillors Mike Curthoys and Mike Lynch are supporting a petition started by resident Eileen Ball.
Throckley resident Eileen Ball, who started the petition, said: "The home delivery service was really popular and local people are angry that Sainsbury's has axed it.
"We hope they will re-consider when they see how angry local people are."
