IMPROVE THE NO10 BUS SERVICE, SAY LIB DEMS

22 Dec 2008

Local Liberal Democrat councillors have called on Stagecoach to improve the Number 10 bus route.

Councillor Lawrence Hunter said he had received many calls from local residents demanding action on the service, which connects West Denton Park to West Denton shops, the General Hospital and the city centre.

Councillor Hunter says: "I have been inundated with complaints. Passengers have reported lateness and cancellations.

"The other big problem is the age of the buses. There are no low liners on the route and lots of elderly people have only this service as a way into Newcastle."

Ron Beadle, Lib Dem spokesman for Newcastle North, adds: "I have written to Stagecoach about the complaints and we hope they will respond positively."
