NEW HOUSING FOR GOSFORTH

26 May 2009

A new programme of council housing will be built in Newcastle, including Gosforth.

The new homes are among the first to be built by the council in over 20 years - and some will be made available for affordable housing.

Councillor Peter Leggott says: "This is good news for local residents. Under Labour there were no new council houses built in the city for more than 20 years.

"The homes in Gosforth will be part of a plan to build 300 units on sites across Newcastle.

"These homes are desperately needed and will go some way to alleviating the shortage. Hopefully even more will be built in the future."

Details of the new properties are being drawn up by Your Homes Newcastle.

The East Gosforth Focus Team will keep you up to date with developments.
