Lemington's Waverley Park is set to share from a £1 million funding boost to improve play facilities, Coun Joanne Park reports.

The Lib Dem-run city council has secured £735,000 from the Big Lottery Children's Play Programme and another £300,000 of internal funding and sponsorship.

On Hospital Lane the overhanging shrubs have been cut back following a long

campaign by Lawrence Hunter. The work is part of a plan to improve pedestrian safety.

The Ward Committee has awarded £12,000 to Waverley Park towards the cost of improved lighting.

The footpaths on Aldeburgh Avenue, Bridgewater Close and Medburn Road have been resurfaced. Two noticed boards have been installed on Burnham Avenue and Moorway Drive.
