RESIDENTS MOVE INTO NEW BUNGALOWS

23 May 2009

Residents have moved into their new bungalows in Throckley - the first council homes to be built in Newcastle for more than 20 years.

The idea is that elderly tenants give up their existing homes - freeing them up for young families - to move into the properties on Coach Lane.

Local councillors Mike Curthoys and Mike Lynch, together with Newcastle North campaigner Ron Beadle and the city's MEP Fiona Hall, recently visited residents in their new homes.

The new YHN homes have been fitted with solar panels in the roof - cutting the cost of household bills.

Councillor Mike Lynch, pictured far right with Fiona Hall and Mike Curthoys, says: "When we spoke to residents they told us how pleased they were with their new bungalows."
