RESIDENTS' PARKING SCHEMES PLANNED

Plans have been unveiled to install residents' parking schemes in Prestwick Terrace and Station Road in Kenton Bank Foot.

The aim of the two schemes is to prevent non-residents from parking on the street.

There have been problems in recent years with people using the airport and parking in Prestwick Terrace and commuters parking on Station Road to use the Metro.

Focus Editor James Kenyon explains: "Residents have been consulted on these schemes and if the response is favourable then they will go ahead."

NEW SCHEME TO HELP LOCAL RESIDENTS

A new scheme has started in Newcastle to help the elderly and disabled stay in their homes.

Anchor is offering a range of services, including recommending tradesmen to carry out repairs and help and advice.

The organisation also runs its own small repairs service for jobs like fitting a plug, hanging a curtain rail or fixing a tap.

James Kenyon says: "This service will be of great help to older people and the disabled who want those little jobs around the house done by reputable tradesmen.

"In addition Anchor's small repairs service offers free quotes and only charges £5 per hour plus the cost of any parts for the work it carries out."
