THROCKLEY AND BLUCHER PLAY AREAS TO BE IMPROVED

8 Jan 2010

Children's play areas in Blucher and Throckley are to renovated as part of a £1.5 million city-wide scheme.

The two play areas will be upgraded in the coming months following discussions with local residents.

The work is being carried out after Newcastle became a Play Pathfinder, under a Government funded scheme.

Focus Editor Eileen Ball said: "As a parent myself I know how important it is to have high quality local play facilities for young children.

"Not only does it keep children fit, it helps reduce anti-social behaviour.

"This scheme will also improve the look of local areas and will help build community spirit among local people."
