Tory manifesto is built on a lie as Farage takes credit for terrible, destructive, Brexit commitment

Cllr Nick Cott

"The Tory manifesto is built on a lie: that Brexit can be implemented without causing years of chaos and damage to our economy, " commented Nick Cott, Liberal Democrats candidate for Newcastle North.

"These promises are not worth the paper they are written on. Boris Johnson's Farage-endorsed Brexit deal would leave the UK £70 billon worse off, meaning less money to invest in our schools, hospitals and tackle the climate emergency.

"Comments from Nigel Farage that much of the Tory manifesto was in fact in the Ukip 2015 manifesto, show that he is the real author of the Tory version.

"This confirms what we already knew: the Tories have become the Brexit party.

"It's not too late to stop Johnson and Farage from dragging us back to the past and imposing their destructive Brexit on the country.

"The Liberal Democrats are the only party in this election who can deprive Boris Johnson of a majority, giving voters the opportunity to stop Brexit so we can invest the £50 billion Remain bonus in our public services, tackle inequalityand build a brighter future."
