LOCAL people in Newburn are being given the chance to can decide how to spend up to £15,000 on local projects in the ward.
The money has been allocated by the U decide scheme, which allows residents to choose how money can be spent to benefit their communities.
Residents, community and voluntary groups and schools can apply for grants and the winners will been decided by residents at a special event later in the year.
Councillor Mike Lynch said: "The U decide scheme has been piloted in Lemington, Denton and Woolsington to great success - and now it is being extended to Newburn Ward.
"I would urge as many local residents as possible to take part and decide how this money should be spent locally."
Special roadshows are taking place across Newburn Ward in August to help local groups apply for grants.
The roadshows will take place at Newburn Library on August 26, Blucher Methodist car park on August 27 from noon, Throckley Co-op car park on August 28 from 11am, and Walbottle Green on August 29 from noon.
