WESTERHOPE IN THE RUNNING FOR 'VILLAGE IN BLOOM'

Westerhope Village has been entered into the Northumbria in Bloom competition.

The village was nominated by Westerhope Village Residents' Association.

Councillor Marc Donnelly says: "Many local people have said how colourful the floral displays in Westerhope are.

"We would like to congratulate council staff for all their work as I don't think we have ever seen Westerhope and the city centre so colourful.

The winners of Northumbria in Bloom will be announced at the end of September.
