YELLOW PERIL IN NORTH HEATON

25 Jul 2008

WE are currently engaged in a process of reviewing all the single and double yellow lines in the ward for legal reasons connected with the transfer of parking enforcement from the police to the city council.

There will be minor changes in various locations as we attempt to "tidy up" existing lines.

In particular, we have asked the highways department to review the situation around the various junctions on Chillingham Road to prevent parking on corners, and to improve visibility to reduce accidents.

A small number of additional short-stay bays will be created on Chillingham Rd and some of the streets on the west side.

We have also asked for a new traffic scheme to be prepared for the area around Ravenswood School which is very busy during the school run, with problem parking and rat running using the back lane between Ravenswood Road and Farnley Road.

Councillor Doreen Huddart said: "We will consult on these plans but be warned - we are looking to tighten up restrictions in this area to improve safety for school kids."
