Call to save Night Noise service so people can get a night's sleep
Ouseburn Liberal Democrats are leading a campaign to save the Night Noise service on behalf of the whole city. They've just written to The Journal on the subject:
The axing of the well-used and successful Night Noise service and its replacement with a left-message service is the latest in a long line of baffling decisions made by the Labour leadership in Newcastle. It is yet another cut which appears to have been made without due thought for the impact on the people of this city.
Since its introduction by the Lib Dems when we controlled the Council, the Night Noise service has been a big success, with many complaints being taken and dealt with each week, offenders being deterred and repeat offenders being appropriately dealt with, and thousands of residents getting a better night's sleep as a result. Across Heaton, the Quayside and Shieldfield, and in other areas of the city like Jesmond, we have spoken to many residents about their positive experience of using the service.
We would urge any residents of the city who are concerned about the impact of this cut to sign our petition calling on Newcastle's Labour leadership to think again. You can sign online at www.newcastle-libdems.org.uk
