City Pool & Turkish Baths to close for restoration

20 Sep 2016

Planning permission has been granted for restoration and redevelopment work to begin on the historic Newcastle City Pool and Turkish Baths.

Work should start in early 2017 on the restoration and regeneration of the Grade II 1920s building. The new operators hope that the restored swimming pool and Turkish Baths will re-open to the public in early 2018 along with new fitness facilities, exercise studios, treatment rooms and cafe.

Fusion Lifestyle, a registered charity, who won the lease for Newcastle City Pool and Turkish Baths last year, are working with local architects Napper on the interior design to ensure it is in keeping with the many original features such as the ornate plasterwork and tiled wall finishes that are being retained.
