Council help for litterpicking communities
Newcastle City Council has recently updated the way resident groups can request community litter pick / rubbish removal through an online form on the 'welcome to envirocall' reporting page.
New users should first register using the apply to be a community litter picker button. Once registered new and existing users will be able to request community litter pick removals from the nearest citywide bin location. There are 3 ways to do this:
- Click a pin on the map that is displayed on-line to select the bin location. (The map can be dragged and zoomed in/out as required)
- Enter the 4 digit id as displayed on the litter bin rubbish is to be collected from.
- Select the street location from the list which zooms the map to the selected location and then click a pin on the map to select the nearest litterbin location
Whichever method is used, the location details will be populated in the relevant boxes once selected.
The Council's Chief Operating Officer says : "We hope these new forms will prove easy for Community Groups to use but we appreciate any feedback on the new on line form and how the system of collection works in practice. As we roll out the numbering of litterbins in Parks these will also be added to the list of available pick up locations. Community groups can also continue, as existing, to ring Envirocall."
