National economic growth, as shown by the Gross Domestic Product, was flat in the three months to October while output in the manufacturing sector continued to fall, the latest Office of National Statistics figures have revealed.

Commenting, Liberal Democats Shadow Chancellor Ed Davey said: "These figures show the extent of Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn's economic incompetence. Johnson's pursuit of Brexit and Labour's muddle and fudge about what they'd do are causing the economy to grind to a halt, and the most vulnerable will be hit hardest if they aren't both stopped .

"Our manufacturing sector and its jobs is already being decimated by Brexit fears and this will be made even worse by Boris Johnson's plan to crash the UK out of the EU by December 2020. Corbyn's claims that he'd be able to negotiate something entirely different within months is just cloud cuckoo land.

"It's not too late to stop Brexit and protect our economy, so we can invest the £50 billion Remain bonus in our public services and tackling inequality.

"Every vote for the Liberal Democrats is a vote to stop Boris, stop Brexit and build a brighter future for the country.
