EU bulletin 9th December Climate change, gun control 2015

9 Dec 2015

A group of 79 developing countries from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific (ACP), made a joint declaration on climate change with the European Union on Tuesday (8 December), in a sign that the EU is wielding its diplomatic clout in Paris, reports EUobserver. The move was welcomed by a former UK Government climate adviser, Michael Jacobs, who said: "I think the EU has not been forward enough at explaining what it's trying to do and show that it is building alliances. Today, this announcement with the ACP, was a bit more forward, and I'm pleased about that personally. I think that's a good thing." See report here: https://euobserver.com/environment/131441

The statement issued by the Visegrad Group of countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovak Republic), significant for a number of reasons including security against terrorism, the refugee crisis and Britain's EU re-negotiation, can be read in full here: http://www.visegradgroup.eu/calendar/2015/joint-statement-of-the-151204

The EU's gun control laws are under review following the Paris terrorist attacks. Details here: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/us/en/news_events/news/news_2015/news_dec_2015/gun_control.html
