The EU has agreed to launch trade negotiations with New Zealand and Australia. Australia's Deputy Secretary, Justin Brown, told EurActiv. "We come with a pragmatic outcome in mind, with a package of benefits that will be good for both parties." All Members of the European Parliament will have access to all categories of confidential documents relating to the EU's Transatlantic trade and investment partnership (TTIP) talks with the USA, under a European Parliament/European Commission agreement approved by the College of Commissioners. The chair of the Parliament's trade committee described it as a big in which would increase the transparency of the TTIP process significantly. The EU's military mission Sophia took part in the rescue of around 4,600 people off the Libyan coast over the past three days in their attempt to reach Europe on unseaworthy boats, according to a report by AFP in EUobserver. See the report here: https://euobserver.com/tickers/131405
