SOLAR PANELS FOR FLATS

Under the Liberal Democrats Newcastle became the most environmentally-friendly city in the country as nominated by the Forum for the Future. One of our schemes was to install solar panels on council houses - like the new bungalows off Hillsview Avenue. Now panels are being installed on the blocks in Elm Grove and Mapledene Road, which will supplement the current electricity supply providing power for communal lighting and door entry system

IT'S DOWN!

The run-down 5 story block on Newlyn Rd, N Kenton (the former CSV training centre), has been demolished at last.

YOU'RE ON CANDID CAMERA

Security cameras are now operational outside Kenton Shopping Centre, and inside the shops. There's also a camera at Amherst Roadin Fawdon.

PAINTING THE TOWN

The external painting programme has reached the Kenton bungalows (Chesham Green,Kinross Drive,Somersby Drive and Hillsview Avenue) and the Fawdon No Fines houses.

KINGSTON PARK ROAD has had bollards installed on the north side of the section from the A1 roundabout to Fawdon Lane junction to stop vehicles going up on the verge and causing damage.
