Getting ready for Spring

Spring is here and around Walkergate a number of FOCUS Team projects, that will
help everyone - young and old - to enjoy the (hopefully) better weather, are blossoming.
Over at Swans Field on Eastfield Avenue, a new set of larger swings are due to be installed
shortly. This will complete the refurbishment of the play area started last year.

At the play area in Walkerville Park on Appletree Gardens, a new slide and roundabout for younger children are also due to be erected in the near future.

In addition, Pauline and Peter Allen have agreed a grant bid to SITA, the waste disposal firm, that will help complete the refurbishment of the Woodside Avenue play area.

New Green Footpaths
Whether you are walking the dog or just taking a stroll, it's good to be able to get away from the traffic and see trees, grass and wildlife - but not get too muddy. The new footpath across Keebledale Open Space has been completed by the Council and over on Waverdale Open Space the footpaths across
the wildlife area are well underway (see below). These new footpaths will join the one around Swans Field which was built in early 2010. Part of this footpath will be rerouted to allow mini football pitches on the site of the old bowling greens (see next page). However, dogs (and their responsible owners) will still be able follow the path around the outside of the full field and still have space for a good sniff around.

Flower Beds & Floral Displays
Many residents have told us how they like to see the flowers and planting displays across Walkergate during the spring and summer. The Focus team are pleased to say that the displays will be appearing again this spring and summer.
